The Simien Mountains National Park presents perhaps the most dramatic scenery in Africa great volcanic plugs, formed some 40 million years ago. It is an extensive, bio diverse wilderness set in the heart of one of Africa’s largest mountain ranges. It is phenomenal as you pass in the shadows of towering peaks, some exceeding 3000m. The range also boasts Ethiopia’s highest mountain, Ras Dashen, a broad-shouldered goliath topping out at a dizzying 4,560m. Home to some of Africa’s most striking wildlife, the park is inhabited by red hearted gelada baboon, elusive walia ibex, exceedingly rare Ethiopian wolf and many more.
