The Kizo lodge was created in 2017 by Lale Labuko, a member of the Kara community. For several years, all his actions have been aimed at helping members of her community as well as members of the Hammer and Béna communities. In 2009, he created the foundation “Omo Child”, whose mission is to care for and educate the ostracized children of these communities, children in danger of death. It is with this objective that the Kizo lodge was created since 5% of the revenues are donated to the “Omo Child” foundation.
At the heart of the Omo Valley, in the far south of Ethiopia, you find the Kizo lodge in Turmi village. It consists of a few traditional round huts with straw roofs. The common room also has a beautiful decoration highlighting the crafts and local culture. Being open to the outside, one can relax and feel a little cool, in this area with extreme heat. There is also a shaded terrace that allows you to relax. The kindness and the availability of Kuna, the manager, make that, very quickly, one feels like at home.
